Way, way, way, way, way before I was pregnant (like probably since I was a kid) I always wanted to have a green nursery – no matter if I were to have a boy or girl, I didn’t want to go blue or pink, rather green. And for probably just as long (maybe longer) I wanted to do a “Classical” Winnie the Pooh themed nursery. And by “classical” I mean the more vintage looking Pooh…not bright yellow, red, orange, pink, and blue. But the muted and earthy tones.
When I was pregnant and planning the nursery I was actually able to find bedding fairly quickly that I fell in love with that had my muted tones and colors. (Although about a year after he was born Pottery Barn came out with a line that I am OBSESSED with and 100% would have registered for).
But my problem was décor. How was I going to find the “vintage” and “classical” Winnie the Pooh items? Well enter the wonderful world of Facebook. Honest to goodness, one day I was just scrolling away (having never had purchased off marketplace mind you) and I came across a lady about 30 minutes away selling ALL of her Pooh Bear nursey items. Now, when I first saw the post I really wasn’t that drawn to it because the bedding and shelves were not my colors (they were indeed the bright red, yellow, blue, etc). But I did spy some treasures in the pictures…an adorable bee hive lamp, and some sweet little trinkets.
I don’t even remember how much she was trying to sell everything for, but she had it listed as a lot. So I messaged her on a whim, asking how much a few of the individual items were…
WELL, she messaged me back and said she would give me ALL of it for $40, and if there was anything I didn’t want to use, I could just donate it. Uhhh WHAT. I was absolutely FLOORED. So you better believe I took her up on that offer and drove 30 minutes to get my treasures!
There were a few things that didn’t go with my vibe…BUT I think I only ended up donating like two things. I repainted three floating shelves white, gave a quilt to my mom to use as a playmat, and used a few things (diaper caddy and basket) in the closet instead of the room.
But overall – I mean the lot could not have been more perfect and exactly what I was looking for! Between that lot, a few sprinkles in from Hobby Lobby, and a little DIY (the wood art above the crib) I was set! Oh, and see those sweet pencil sketches?? Those are from London! One of my mom’s best friends is a flight attendant who often flies to London. She found those drawings on one of her trips and gave them to me at my shower. To saw I was in shock and awe was an understatement!
A nursery is a sacred space. So much happens in this room. So much time is spent in that glider. Sometimes eyes are very heavy. But being able to look around and see such sweet and special pieces – a room that I envisioned and dreamed about for years – that sure is something special!
Oh and if you to want a “classical” Winnie the Pooh nursery – be sure to check out Facebook Marketplace!
