How did we get here?

If you’re new here, welcome! I’m Alli – a pastor’s wife and boy mama times 2. I’ve shared bits and pieces of my story and here and there, but now that “A Wellspring Home” is officially launched and live, I figured, what better place than to start with my story?

So here we go!

Back when I was in college I had this grand idea to start a blog. I’m sure it exists somewhere out space still, but I don’t even remember the website, or if I ever posted anything. But I was inspired and liked the idea. I’ll never forget, one day in that time, I went to Barnes and Noble for really no purpose, other than just to puruse. I found myself stuck in the home section just admiring cookbooks, design books. decorating book, etc. And that was my inspiration to start a blog.

Sound strange? I know, but hear me out. In my mind I pictured a little bit of everything…receipes, home decor, beautiful pictures, and just a homey feel. This was back before I knew of Joanna Gaines but just picture Magnolia. Obviousllllyyy I’m no Joanna! But that feeling, that beauty, the way she inspires people in their homes, that’s what I pictured this blog to be!

Ok, so clearly that didn’t happen and that dream died a bit. Well flash forward about hmmmm 8 years…a wedding, a dog, seminary (for my husband, not me!), multiple jobs, 2 moves, and a baby later. My first son was about 8 months old at the time, and I started being more conscious of the products we used around our house. (I have a floor cleaning story that I’ll save for another time). I wanted to start using more natural cleaners (insert said floor story) and stop burning candles – more so for the danger of flame and an 8 month old if I’m being honest! So I ordered an essential oil starter kit from a friend, and little did I know that Wellspring Home would eventually come from that.

So I started using my oils, bought some Thieves cleaner, and honestly just never looked back. I learned SO much. Not only about how to use oils and their benefits, but about the harsh and harmful ingredients that we expose ourselves to everyday. The health risks that such seemingly good things can pose. The effects of toxins, etc. The more I learned, the more I wanted to make a lifestyle change and make a true effort to reduce the toxins in our house. Obviously there’s so much we can’t control – but what comes in my house? That I can manage and be the gatekeeper of!

In the process, I started sharing my story. Sharing my love for my oils, Thieves cleaner, and plant based products, and entered into the business aspect, honesly just to cover the cost of my monthly orders! Well in the meantime…remember that heart I had for the home back in college and the blog gone awry? That came back in a whole new way!

Not only did I love the home, but I felt like I finally had a creative outlet to share what was inside me and what had been building for years. And a huge desire to not only educate other ladies and moms, but to help inspire others as to what they can achieve within their own homes.

And thus, Wellspring Wednesdays, and subsequently Wellspring Home were born. Wellspring. Wellspring. That word just kept sticking out to me. And Proverbs 4:23 kept coming to mind. To “Above all else, guard your heart, for from it flows the wellspring of life.”

That’s what I wanted. That’s what I wanted for my home and for yours! Our heart lives, thrives, grows, cultivates with those around us and in our homes. So why not make our homes a wellspring – a physical, spiritual, and emotional wellspring? A place where life and love overflow. A place where our heart and our families can grow.

So what does that look like? Well, that’s where my brand and blog come in. Comparision is a thief of joy. And here at Wellspring Home, I stand for quite the opposite of that. I was to spark joy, not steal joy. The social media world can be a tough place – it can be so inspiring, yet so comparative at the same time. My heart is to be on the inspiring side. I don’t want you to compare my life to yours, I want to inspire you to find what sparks joy in your home. In your life. In your heart. So that you can create your own Wellspring Home. Not mine, but yours.

So that is a very very long winded way to say – WELCOME. You are welcome here! There is a little bit of everything…natural living, essential oils, DIYs, home decor, home organization, party planning, travel tips, etc. You name it – if it involves the home, you’ll probably see it at some point.

So last thing – thank you. Thank you for being here! Thank you for your support. Whether it be through Young Living, through sharing my posts, joining my newsletter, or just being here. Thank you!

Xoxo, Alli
