Masters Party

It’s a big week around here…it’s Masters Week!! That’s right – we celebrate that here is our household :). Growing up I always remember Golf being on in the background of our house on beautiful spring and summer weekends…There’s just something about the bright green grass, the calm and quiet commentary, the beautiful scenery, the ocean waters, etc. And let’s be real, is also GREAT to fall asleep to for that post church Sunday afternoon nap!

But as pretty much anyone who watches golf would tell you, there’s just something like the Masters. After all, it’s “a tradition like none other” and Augusta National is just stunning.

When we lived in Raleigh, one of my dearest friends and her family were huge golf lovers. One year she told me about all the Masters food she was going to make that weekend…and I was like ummm yes PLEASE! Why didn’t I think of that?!? Give me any reason to have themed food, and I’m all in. And thus began my tradition of celebrating Masters weekend with a little Masters Party!!

Most recently, that same dear friend, even sent me a “Masters in a Box” package, to take my Masters Party to the next level! And it’s perfect! Peep the cloth napkins, napkin rings, yellow serving baskets and paper inserts, pink flowers – the most amazing mail day!!

Alright, let’s do a little Masters Party round up, shall we? Honestly, this takes very little prep as far as parties go…a trip to the grocery and Hobby Lobby will do the trick!

For the food spread, I just make some Pimento Cheese and Egg Salad (I make both homemade, but you could totally buy premade at the store) sandwiches, on white bread of course, served with plain lays potato chips. Plus some BBQ sliders!

Thanks to my “Masters in a Box” I use the yellow serving trays and cloth napkins, but if you don’t have anything along those lines just head to Hobby Lobby and buy some green and yellow plates and napkins!

For drinks, there is none other than some Arnold Palmer! And since I don’t have any “real” Masters party cups…I made my own! Just some clear plastic cups, a package of goofball stickers, and some green and yellow party straws!

And last but not least…dessert. My favorite part of any party…but especially the Masters Party! Peach ice cream cookie sandwiches! Again, you can easily go homemade here or store bought! My go to is store bought (slice and bake) sugar cookies and homemade peach ice cream (which is just that of homemade vanilla ice cream with peaches!) My kitchen aid mixer has an ice cream attachment…so I figure might as well go the extra mile and make some homemade ice cream for the occasion! Now – a trick I’ve learned about these over the years…assemble them as you serve! If you assemble them before hand and then put them back in the freezer so the ice cream doesn’t melt, the cookies get really hard, and the mess comes very quickly!

And last but not least, no party around our house is complete without a corresponding Diffuser Blend going…so lemon and lime it is!

Even if you’re not all that into golf…I promise this is a good way to make your weekend a little extra special, and a great way to enjoy a Spring weekend with family or friends!

Happy Masters Week!
