*This post may contain affiliate links which I may make a small commission off of if purchased* And if you’re new here – welcome! I’m Alli! I’d love to get to know you more…and if you’d like to know a little bit more about me and Wellspring Home, then hop on my email list here for the latest and greatest!
Well, we’ve officially made it around the sun. The Sensory Bin Sun that is! If you’re new around here, I have a thing for Sensory Bin activities, and also a thing for seasonal flare. So obviously, I’ve combined the two! If you’d like to catch up on the rest of the seasons…you can find my Summer, Fall, Christmas, Winter Sensory Bins all on the blog, as well as how I got started with sensory bins for my 2.5 year old!
So Spring Sensory Bins honestly might be the easiest one of them all…because hello, EASTER EGGS are so so perfect for sensory bin play. Typically, I color my rice according to the season. But for our Spring Bin, I just use our traditional rainbow rice! Which if you’re unfamiliar with, is so easy to make.
Simply take a bag of dry white rice and dump it in a ziploc bag. Then add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and how ever many drops of food coloring you desire. After you mix it all together really well in the bag, so that all the rice is coated, dump the rice out on a cookie sheet and spread out for it to dry. Adjust the amount of colors however you like!
So you can easily just add good ole fashioned Easter Eggs to the bin (plus any other sensory bin additives – spoons, scoops, figurines, etc. But I personally love a Dollar Tree run for this one (well and basically all sensory bins!). During the Spring Dollar Tree has TONS of eggs. And I’m not talking just standard eggs…I’m talking sports eggs (which I definitely stock up on to use year round!), eggs shaped like carrots, and bunnies, and chicks! Even eggs shaped like sea animals and zoo animals – which don’t worry are featured in another blog post here!
In additional to all the amazing eggs, they also have cute little figurines to add. I grabbed these bunny and carrot erasers, and my oldest loves to use the carrots to “plant a garden” in the rice!
You really cannot go wrong with a Spring Sensory Bin because the possibilities are endless! My youngest, currently 19 months at the time of this Spring bin, is even really getting into sensory bins for the first time and loving it!
So there you have it! Grab you some bags of white rice and a rubbermaid container (which you can also find at Dollar Tree if you’re doing a small bin (I personally keep our seasonal rice bins small because I truly do pack them away with my seasonal decor, and wait to bring them out again until the next season!) and get started on those Spring Sensory Bins!
If you don’t have luck at the Dollar Tree, there’s of course always Amazon – I just typically find that the supplies are always cheaper at Dollar Tree!
Oh – and if you make any seasonal sensory bins, and share them on social media, please tag me so I can see what awesome creation you came up with for your little ones! I love to see it!
Until next time!
