In honor of my oldest turning 4 this month we’re taking a trip down memory lane to finally take a deeper look at all the {Disney} birthday parties I’ve thrown for him thus far…

Now, let me just preface this with saying these “parties” have basically all been with family – we haven’t quite entered into the “friends” birthday parties yet. I know everyone has their own preference on this – but this has been ours thus far in life and parenthood! We are blessed to have family in town to celebrate with, so fun, festive, themed little family gatherings have been the name of our birthday game!

So for his first birthday (especially when he still had no mind to remember what was going on!), we of course did none other than a Winnie the Pooh, ONE Hundred Acre Woods party! Did I also do this same theme for my second son? You know it! And you can read about that one here – they were different, I promise!

Alright, so this one was pretty simple.

My biggest inspiration for the party was the adorable Hunny pot smash cake – I mean can you even?? I basically just searched online for inspiration pics, sent them to a local cake decorator, and she made this for me!

And instead of paying even more to have a profession cake made for the guest to eat, I decided to just take on cupcakes myself! I just made some good ole boxed chocolate cupcakes, some store bought icing that I dyed yellow, a sandwich baggie so that I could pipe the icing onto the cupcakes, and then found some sweet little bubble bee candy toppers to put on top! (I think maybe I found mine at Hobby Lobby, so you could check your local store, but Amazon has them too!)

Similarly, these Tigger Tails – aka chocolate covered pretzel sticks. How CUTE were they?? We had a sweet church member who often made these for parties and events, so I commissioned her for some Tigger Tails that our guests could take home as party favors!

The rest of the food for this party was pretty simple (and not quite as elaborate as the second Pooh Party), mostly just some snacks. We of course had Rabbits Garden with fresh veggies and dip, some fruit, and some “Piglets in a Blanket.”

The décor for this party was honestly mostly things I just pulled from his nursery! But it sure made for cuter centerpieces and “pops” of Pooh throughout the party!

The last little touch I put on this party was the book…which may seem odd but hear me out! When I was pregnant with my oldest, I was given a Winnie the Pooh baby shower (of course!). And my bestie, who threw me the shower, had bought this Pooh book off my registry and used it as the guest book for the shower. So all throughout the book there are little notes to Hudson.

So for this first birthday party, I brought the book back out and had everyone write him a little birthday note on the inside cover of the book! This book still resides on the bookshelves in his room, so I love that we will always have these little treasured notes for years to come!

And finally – one of the biggest things I wanted from this party was a One Hundred Acre Wood photoshoot! So we drug the Ikea kids table, our Classical Pooh stuffed animals, and ourselves out into the January cold, and had ourselves a little shoot!

This party was just the beginning for me in my new love for throwing {Disney} themed birthdays…
